I Dosha

Doshas are the pathogenic elements responsible for diseases in Ayurveda.According to Ayurveda all the functions of the body from the grossest to the most subtle are governed by the three bodily moods , called Dosha Vata, Dosha Pitta, Dosha Kapha. The first is (the wind (Vàyu) which gives rise to the greatest number of diseases, resides in the lower part of the body but not only, its qualities are: cold, dry, rough, light and unstable and increases by all the substances that have the same qualities. The second is the bile (tejas) it is warm, fluid, bright acid and is located in the center of the body. Finally we have the phlegm (prthivi) it is heavy, cold, solid, mucilaginous and its seat is in the head. and in the chest. When the Doshas increase they break the balance between them, a disease occurs which is treated by antagonistic treatments, substances and qualities.
